Center for Sustainable Environments Hooper Student Fund
2006 Sustainability Awards
for NAU Undergraduate or Graduate Students

The Hooper Student Fund Committee and the Center for Sustainable Environments announce a competition for awards of up to $1,000 for individuals or up to $1,600 for small groups to support sustainability projects at NAU or in northern Arizona.

The projects should involve research, education or activity conducted on-campus or off-campus by current NAU undergraduate or graduate students. The emphasis of proposed projects should be on actual outcomes, that is, solutions that actually advance sustainability on campus or in the region.

On-campus projects should relate to specific areas of the NAU Campus Sustainability Plan and their implementation through the Campus Sustainability Steering Committee. The relation of the project to the plan should be explained in the proposal. The Campus Plan is available here.

Off-campus projects should clearly promote a sustainability goal that benefits northern Arizona and relate to research, education or advocacy aimed toward solutions. The project should build upon or advance work done by an institution, organization, agency or program in the region and this should be explained in the proposal.

Projects should begin no later than September, 2006, and should be completed within one year. A final report of the project and a statement of expenditures will be required. Additionally, award recipients are encouraged to make a presentation of the project at a campus event, a public venue or a professional meeting.

Each proposal must include the following with the page limits and spacing indicated:

The cover page should include:
